Public health is both a field of inquiry and an arena for action. I chose the pathway to public health because I wanted to be an advocate to keep communities healthy, pursue social justice, and promote equitable access to care. Pertinent issues regarding health inequities and disparities among African American women is what piqued my interest to explore the various layers that encompass maternal and child health. I aim to proactively address intersectional factors impacting racial and ethnic disparities as it is crucial to incorporate a reproductive justice framework. I strive to be an advocate and a voice for those unable to speak for themselves.
