Profile bio

About Dr. Ra (Rachel) Lofton

I am a changemaker passionate about diversity, equity, inclusion, access, and belonging for underrepresented groups. I am a transformative and charismatic leader that advocates for the marginalized and vulnerable and strives to inspire others to become leaders and agents of change.I am a doctoral student in the Global Leadership and Change Program at the Graduate School of Education and Psychology at Pepperdine University. I’ve learned policy analysis and development; e-learning theory and practice; instructional design, evaluation, and assessment; organizational behavior and change management; and qualitative and quantitative research methods and practice. This program strengthened my leadership skills, emotional intelligence, business and organizational acumen, and work ethic. As a Gender Studies major, I studied culture and society from multiple perspectives, gaining a more profound knowledge of human behavior and social relations. Serving as a resident assistant, I received student personal and academic advising training. I learned to build communities of all ethnic, racial, cultural, and religious backgrounds, encouraging a better understanding of cultural diversity and individual differences.Employed by internationally recognized companies such as IMG, The Golden State Warriors (NBA), and The Oakland Raiders (NFL), I have further improved my skills in leadership, teamwork, event planning and execution, and analytics. While working for these companies, I learned how international events are becoming increasingly important in modern-day society, reflecting our globalizing world and interconnectedness. Working at IMG for three years as an intern and marketing associate, I assisted in developing national, regional, and local multi-platform marketing campaigns for UCLA athletics. My ability to be nimble, adaptable, and work as a team player in an ever-changing and fast-paced environment was key to my success in that position. I simultaneously held another internship at 3 Ball Productions as a production assistant while flourishing as a full-time student. This sharpened my multitasking and time management skills. My background has taught me to assess the needs of small and large communities, establish meaningful and sustainable projects, to reach and many times surpass project expectations and goals.

Listed skills include Public Speaking, Logistics, Social Media, Operations Management, and 25 others.

The call to international cooperation is urgent: poverty, inequality, conflict, instability, and deep uncertainty still affect everyday life of the majority of world population. The ASERI Master's Course in International Cooperation and Development offers a privileged framework for interdisciplinary analysis of the global situation, and for exploring tentative solutions to the world problems, through the coordinated efforts of governmental and non-governmental actors. Cooperation is indeed a key word in pursuing development and inclusion: cooperation is about empowering the vulnerable, the poor and the marginalized in becoming protagonists of their own development; cooperation is about international aid, but even more about appropriate national and global policies. Ultimately, it is about bridging gaps among people, groups and institutions.
