With a Bachelor of Arts in Communications, focusing on electronic media and writing, and a Masters of Science in Natural Resources, focusing on environmental education, I possess a wide range of skills, experiences, and passions. I have spent the past 15 years working in the field of environmental & sustainability education. I have lived & worked on organic farms, managed gardens, developed & taught an original sustainability education curriculum, worked in marketing & social media management, planned & implemented events and programs, and taught a wide range of ages and backgrounds in this vast & growing field. The source of my greatest passion and expertise in the field of sustainability is within sustainable food systems and agriculture/gardening. Food is the most basic thing all living beings have in common, and as such, I feel it's extremely vital to be aware and informed as to how this source affects us physically, mentally, emotionally, economically, environmentally, and so forth. My goal is to empower individuals to make practical changes in their own lives to ultimately contribute to the mitigation of such universal problems as environmental degradation, poverty, hunger, uneven distribution of resources, and health issues.From the aforementioned experiences, I have developed extensive knowledge, experience, and skills in the realms of both education and environmental sustainability, farming/gardening, as well as communications, writing, marketing, and strategic planning.I have also pursued many professional development opportunities in this field, including going through my Permaculture Design Certificate training with Midwest Permaculture in 2015 and attending countless workshops, classes, & trainings on sustainability topics (food/farming, natural building, renewable energy, herbalism, community development, permaculture, fermentation) through MOSES (Midwest Organic & Sustainable Education Service) and MREA (Midwest Renewable Energy Association).
