In my current role at WPCampus, I am a Board Member in the role of Past-President. I assist the organization as it transitions to the new governance structure. I will step away from a leadership role in the organization at the end of 2023.

I founded and managed WPCampus, a non-profit organization and community with events and resources for WordPress and digital accessibility in higher education. WPCampus is an organization run 100% by volunteers. I managed the operational budget and a support team of volunteers. I chaired five in-person conferences and five online conferences. I administered an active Slack workspace and engineered a network of organizational websites.Through WPCampus, I advocated for, organized, and raised $32,000 for the only accessibility audit ever performed on the core WordPress content management system. I chaired a community working group that designed, implemented, and led our organization’s transition toward a new governance model. In March 2023, WPCampus completed the transition process and announced its inaugural Board of Directors.

I am a freelance web engineer, consultant, and focused specialist in digital accessibility, front-end web development, and higher education/enterprise-level engineering.Working primarily in higher education and enterprise-level environments, I perform freelance work for and consult with organizations (mainly universities and web agencies) to build accessible and performant web products, audit and remediate web products to remove digital accessibility barriers, and provide instruction on how to be more inclusive on the web.My contracts include, but are not limited to:- Lead digital accessibility audits and provide in-depth analysis for WCAG 2.1 conformance.- Perform digital accessibility remediation to align with WCAG guidelines and other industry standards and best practices.- Provide digital accessibility education and instruction.- Build accessible and performant web products using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.- Engineer custom solutions from scratch or alongside industry frameworks, e.g., Node.js, Svelte, and WordPress, and provide accessible solutions for enterprise-level content creators.

Founded and organized WebTide, a community of web professionals at the University of Alabama which exists to help benefit its members, and the university, by promoting professional development, innovation, and discussion.

I designed, engineered, and managed all web services for The University of Alabama College of Engineering from January 2011 to May 2015 and for The University of Alabama Division of Student Affairs from June 2015 to April 2016.I managed large WordPress installations for both positions and was the sole engineer responsible for the development, design, content management, governance, documentation, and digital accessibility. I designed and engineered custom WordPress theme frameworks, plugins, and web applications. I managed 60+ department websites for the Division of Student Affairs, including relationships with their content creators.I advocated for using Siteimprove, an accessibility testing tool, to help manage the digital accessibility and quality assurance of the university websites. I collaborated with numerous content owners to ensure that content was accessible and met brand standards. I organized meetings with content owners to discuss the digital accessibility reports and provided feedback, education, and encouragement.I worked alongside the university's central accessibility team to assist in university accessibility policy and implementation.I founded and managed WebTide, a community of web professionals at the University of Alabama, to help benefit its members and the university by promoting professional development and innovation and fostering internal communication and collaboration. Management efforts included organizing a monthly meetup, communications, and other resources for the community.I assembled a volunteer team that received a grant to host and organize a regional HighEdWeb Association conference at the university. This team successfully hosted the HighEdWeb Alabama conference in 2015.

I was the chair/lead organizer for HighEdWeb Alabama, a regional, two-day conference for the national HighEdWeb Association highlighting the knowledge and presentations of higher education web professionals in the Southeast.I assembled a volunteer team that received a grant to host and organize the event.

I was the Curator and Speaker Coordinator for TEDxTuscaloosa 2015, which took place in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on April 11, 2015.

Taught a web design class for the Alabama Governor's School, a summer residential honors program for gifted high school seniors. Helped students understand how the internet and websites work, HTML, CSS, and general web and web design principles.

As part of the university's central Office of Communication, I designed, engineered, and managed centralized web services for the entire university. My primary client was Samford University's Howard College of Arts and Sciences.I specialized in creating HTML e-mails, Adobe Flash web applications, and VB.NET and ASP.NET (programming languages used to manage the university's CMS: Ektron, now called Episerver). I helped various departments manage their website content through the university's content management system and built custom CMS templates and other functionality as needed.

I worked in the Public Relations office at the Mississippi University for Women and designed all the print work for the entire university. MUW is where I fell in love with working in higher education. MUW is also where I realized my dream was to be a full-time web engineer, not a print designer.
