Led Legal Operations for a fast-growing legal department of a first-of-its-kind biopharmaceutical manufacturing and technology company broadening access to novel therapies and vaccines while protecting supply chains against disruption.

Manage a team focused on contract asset management as a core competency for the Legal Operations function. The team helps capture, increases awareness of, and leverages the inherent value in Thermo Fisher’s key contracts. We achieve this by developing and deploying contract management best practices utilizing optimized processes & technology, and by producing key contract analytics and metrics. The team also supports strategic initiatives around enterprise contract life-cycle management.

Member of an interdisciplinary team responsible for ensuring financial and non-financial compliance with executed in- and out-licenses, OEM and supply agreements, software licenses, purchase agreements, and related contracts • Maintain comprehensive records for 3,000+ active contracts in customized database, including but not limited to, amendments, relevant correspondence, intellectual property, and payment information• Monitor internal and external adherence to contractual obligations, including fees, royalties, milestones, reports, insurance coverage, and forecasts • Track post-close obligations for M&A-related deals, including sales reports, earn-out payments, milestones, and other non-financial obligations

Manage biotechnology, biochemical, and other life-science inventions during initial disclosure, triage evaluation, patenting, marketing, and presentation to industry; negotiate licenses; manage post-licensing issues• Collaborate with faculty and research staff to identify new inventions and technologies• Evaluate patentability, market value, and commercial potential for new technologies• Cooperate with patent counsel to file and prosecute patent applications• Research, identify, and communicate with potential licensee organizations; evaluate the potential benefits of a partnership with each and make recommendation based upon evaluation• Propose and negotiate financial and other key licensing terms; draft contracts (licenses, CDAs, IIAs, etc.)

In addition to Marketing Associate role, assumed responsibility for licensing non-patented tangible materials• Managed entire tangible material portfolio; sought licensees for cell lines, antibodies, and animal models• Negotiated terms and drafted license agreements and amendments for non-patented technologies• Managed legacy portfolio of 400+ patents; identified patents for which maintenance was not cost effective

Implemented and coordinated marketing strategies to facilitate awareness of Salk technologies in industry • Drafted marketing tools, including technical descriptions, invention abstracts, and introduction letters• Actively and promptly marketed new inventions using direct contact, print, web, and email• Performed market research to support lead generation and license monitoring • Maintained CRM database; managed relationship with database providers
