Visual ManagerExpo Design Center 2001 - 2005Englewood, CoExpo Design Center was owned by Home Depot with the opposite target market. They had designers on staff and did everything for you (opposite of "you can do it-we can help"). It was a huge 100,000 sq ft high end, retail design center with bath and kitchen vignettes, plumbing, lighting, furniture, decorative accessories, etc.I started as a drapery designer, then went to the Visual team and was promoted to Visual Manager.In my role I was accountable for the overall entire look of the store and the sales and merchandising of all the Decor products (furniture, artwork, knick knacks, etc).I trained the Department managers on the standards and maintenance of the stores.I merchandised the entire store without any planograms or corporate direction (which I loved the creative freedom) so successfully that the Regional VP requested that I become the Regional Visual Manager to train other Visual Managers.I evaluated sales in merchandise categories to determine replenishment needs and ensure sufficient stock for all upcoming ads in all departments. I increased sales in my departments by about 25% by ensuring all stock was on the sales floor and changing our merchandising strategies. (We averaged between $25,000 and $30,000 a week in sales in my department).My job ended when the store closed in June of 2005:(.
