•Implements public health programs by providing support and technical assistance to national, state, and/or local agencies and organizations in the development, extension, and improvement of their public health care systems and services.•Analyzes and evaluates the effectiveness of program operations: researching information, generating reports, compiling data, designing studies, analyzing established public health policy and recommending related areas for improvement, conducting surveys and coordinating/executing public health activities. •Performs analytical work that contributes to the improvement of Federal public health programs for various populations. Plans, develops, monitors, implements and evaluates content or projected public health programs to assess their success in achieving objectives for various initiatives. •Evaluates information and initiates research to validate existing policy and/or new programs or policies to help HRSA’s Bureaus and Offices meet the goals set forth for their particular area. •Assists in the planning and implementation of required program and policy changes. •Reviews legislation in order to develop strategies and approaches for implementing programs and prepares issue and policy papers.

• Lived and served a village of 4,000 people in northern Belize. Facilitated health projects to villagers at the clinic, primary school, conducted home visits, and established and maintained community garden. Addressed issues including non-communicable disease prevention, good hygiene practice, and nutrition.• Facilitated public health lessons to more than 400 primary school students. Designed and implemented demonstrations and strategies to encourage healthy living as part of the national Health and Family Life Education (HFLE) curriculum.• Co-planned weekly home visits in coordination with the local Community Health Worker (CHW) and Belize Ministry of Health. Conducted surveys with villagers to collect health census information and measure knowledge about mosquito-borne illnesses. Organized monthly home visits to 12 diabetic villagers as part of a Ministry of Health initiative over a period of 7 months. Recorded their weight, blood pressure, and blood sugar on each visit and planned short health talks about diet and exercise, Body Mass Index (BMI) management, and stressed importance of health maintenance for diabetics.• Organized a community health fair in conjunction with the Ministry of Health, Community Health Workers (CHWs), and local clinic staff. Coordinated with CHW to design health posters and lead discussions on non-communicable disease prevention including anti-tobacco messages, the effects of exercise on the body, and delivered information about Chronic Kidney Disease.• Implemented a school garden in the community that sold produce at low-cost to villagers. Founded a school Garden Club that assisted in turning soil, forming beds, planting, watering, and harvesting produce. Led hands-on and informational sessions about nutrition and horticultural skills. Facilitated at-home gardening sessions for interested villagers to encourage personal control of healthy food options.

•Led tours for the farm’s visitors, including children on field trips•Served as Camp Counselor at Sweetwater’s Farm Camp (Tampa, FL), Aug. 2017: 40 hours. Volunteered as a counselor for week-long farm camp, where I helped plan and implement activities such as building solar ovens to make pizza, building worm beds for the compost heap, going on a farm scavenger hunt to collect edible ingredients for a salad, and planting seeds in the community garden.

•Volunteered weekly to conduct free HIV testing as well as pre- and post-test counseling for youth about safe behaviors using HIV 500/201 certification.•Designed and facilitated educational sessions at local high schools. Created presentation about HIV/AIDS and common sexually transmitted infections, described role and job responsibilities at the clinic, and informed students about free, confidential services offered to youth.•Organized Hall-O-Screen 2015 outreach event to promote the clinic’s testing and educational services. Facilitated partnership with public health organizations that brought testers to conduct HIV testing, STI screenings, and Hepatitis C testing. Promoted the event to USF public health, nursing, and medical students and recruited 18 volunteers for the 4 hour event. Created flyers and designed promotional materials to advertise services and encourage testing. Coordinated with local bars and businesses to promote the testing event. Provided more than 150 youth with information about the clinic’s services and packets of condoms.

•Served full-time as summer camp counselor at Metropolitan Ministries for children of the families living in transitional housing.•Worked in conjunction with staff and two other VISTA volunteers to design and teach interactive STEM curriculum and science experiments for about 70 children enrolled in the camp.•Planned all STEM-related projects and activities. Responsible for submitting the lesson plans and list of required materials for the following week. Operated within the parameters of the program’s budget and worked directly with senior staff to ensure meaningful projects met guidelines of cost and feasibility.

•Earned 500/501 certification in Florida to provide HIV/AIDS testing and counseling services.•Educated and counseled patients at the Drug Abuse Comprehensive Coordinating Office- conducted HIV/AIDS outreach and testing in DACCO’s mobile testing unit, attended health fairs and community events to educate the public about the services offered by the organization.
