Train in Midwest Academy's Organizing for Social Justice training online and in-person, in English and Spanish, as part of a dynamic training team. Managed and completed a project to draft trainer notes for the Organizing for Social Justice Training in collaboration with the full time Midwest Academy Training staff.

Facilitated the Immigration and Early Care and Education (ECE) Committees of UPLAN. These Commitees bring together parents from parent-led organizations from across the country for advocacy around federal policy. Supported parents in planning and executing in-person Gatherings, including a gathering of 100+ parent leaders for a lobby day in Washington, DC.Designed and helped to implement a co-chairs structure for the UPLAN Policy Committees to support pathways to leadership development.

Responsible for maintaining a base of institutional and grassroots leaders who experience reentry barriers to housing. Run outreach groups in English and Spanish at 8 Chicago interim and permanent housing programs. Develop leadership among homeless and formerly homeless individuals and advocate with them for policy change at the state and city levels. Staff Chicago-area working groups to address Latino homelessness. Train the following sessions 3 times per year at our 2-Day Community Organizing Training: History of Community Organizing; Running Effective Meetings; Relationship Building in the Public Arena (One-on-Ones); Power and Power Analysis.

Teaching Assistant in Beginning and Intermediate English language courses. Facilitated English Language clubs for students who wanted additional speaking practice.

The Exoneration Project is a legal clinic from the University of Chicago law school whose legal team works full time on cases of wrongful conviction in Illinois and beyond. It is housed in the civil rights law firm of Loevy and Loevy. My focus as an intern was to correspond with inmates and review inmate cases to determine if they were appropriate for the Project.

"LegalTrek is a college summer program designed to provide a hands-on, comprehensive overview of the legal profession. LegalTrek’s mission is to diversify the legal profession by encouraging and supporting college students from historically underrepresented groups to attend law school."

Developed and coordinated the GED Tutoring Program for Pomona College employees. Coordinated tutoring partnerships between 20 Pomona students and 6 Pomona staff.

Citizen Action/IL is the largest progressive direct action organization in the Midwest, with over 80 member organizations. As an organizing intern trained by the Midwest Academy, I organized users of Oak Forest Hospital to oppose its possible closing.

Organized Domestic Violence clients to oppose state budget cuts to DV programs.
