Unlike many people I know, I had no clue what I wanted to be when I grow up. I would change my mind on a daily basis when it came to choosing a career path and attending college. One day I was going to be a doctor, the next day a chef, the next day a veterinarian. Still undecided when I graduated high school, I decided to obtain my pharmacy technician license and work instead of attending school. Choosing to work after graduating high school instead of going straight to college was the best decision I could have made at the time. While many college students these days are lacking many of the basic skills needed to succeed in the workplace, I was lucky enough to learn those skills before I started school. Working allowed me to develop better time management skills, better problem solving skills, and better interpersonal skills, which I believe helped give me an extra boost above some of the other students when I returned to school. When I decided to return to school after three years of working in pharmacy, the only thing I was sure of was that I didn't want a job in healthcare. It wasn't until halfway through my second semester that it finally clicked - I wanted to do something in international business, preferably something in logistics, supply chain management, or operations, with a special focus on East Asian countries. The focus on operations and logistics was due to my years of always planning everything meticulously - it seemed like the perfect fit for my interests and skills. Furthermore, growing up I had always loved learning about other countries, and after spending several years in Korea, I fell in love with the culture. I also managed to learn a fair amount about Japan, China, Singapore, and even Thailand from contacts I made, and classes I took. I believe that the time I spent living in Korea also helped lead to me towards finally choosing my undergraduate major - Global Leadership in Business. While waiting so long to attend school and only graduating in December of 2023 means I may be a bit behind my same-aged peers, I wouldn't trade my experiences for anything. Everything that I've been through in life and the experiences, both good and bad, have led me to where I am today.
