While in the laboratory at the Metabolic Diseases Institute I worked with leading scientists and a medical device manufacturer to test bariatric surgical devices and the effects of bariatric surgical treatments to examine patient post-surgical intervention behaviors and improve patient outcomes. My individual laboratory work was accepted as a poster presentation at the Society for Neuroscience Annual Meeting, the National McNair Research Conference, and the University of Cincinnati Scholarly Showcase where it won a "Top 3 Award" for best poster. This work was also awarded funding by the University of Cincinnati Undergraduate Student Research Fellowship Program, a summer research fellowship awarded to outstanding undergraduate students participating in research.
