CurrentCommercial Disputes: Rachel is recommended as a leading junior for commercial litigation by the L500. She is an experienced commercial practitioner who has acted in a range of disputes, often as sole counsel. She has particular interest and expertise in conspiracy, fraud, and issues of contractual interpretation. Recent instructions include Libyan Investment Authority v KS & ors (conspiracy claim arising out of joint venture arrangements) and Chevron v Amazonia (alleged commercial conspiracy arising from US$18bn judgment in respect of environmental pollution in Ecuador and associated proceedings in New York and elsewhere). Product Liability and Group Actions: Rachel is recommended as a leading individual for product liability by C&P, and for group litigation by both L500 and C&P. She was instructed in the Volkswagen NOx Emissions Litigation as first junior for the Claimant Steering Committee, and also acts for parties in a variety of other group actions arising out of the 2015 “Dieselgate” scandal. Beyond the automotive sector, Rachel maintains a broad practice; she has advised and acted in a range of claims concerning environmental damage, employee blacklisting, medical devices, consumer goods and financial misselling, across sectors including aviation, transport, technology, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, oil & gas and consumer goods. Rachel also advises in relation to related health & safety issues and regularly appears in both the civil and criminal courts on her own account. She is on the HSE list of Specialist Regulatory Advocates.Personal Injury: Rachel has a busy court practice in this field, and regularly represents Claimants and Defendants at both trial and appellate level.Rachel's work is increasingly international. She accepts instructions from offshore jurisdictions and has been involved in cases with European, American, African and Caribbean dimensions. She is a member of the Litigation Committee of the International Bar Association.
