I am writing blogs for the LiveAboard.com website regarding diving destinations. I work in a remote capacity, receiving assignments via Google Docs and submitting invoices.

Gili Trawangan

After completing my divemaster training I am stayed on in a freelance position until I leave to travel more.

Gili Trawangan, Indonesia

Was solely responsible for the digital marketing for Gili Divers across several platforms including Facebook, Instagram and Trip Advisor. This mostly involved content creation which included video production, content writing, photo editing and blog writing. Over the course of 6 months (which was my contract), I organically increased the Instagram following (the main focus) by 55% and improved the trip advisor ranking.

I completed a social media marketing internship with Paradise Interns from January to June 2019. This entailed a 1 month bootcamp learning all things social media as well as other skills including copywriting, photography and email marketing. I was placed at a dive centre in Gili Trawangan where I was solely in charge of content creation, social media copywriting, blog copywriting, managing bookings via Facebook and Instagram and Trip Advisor Review Express. During this time, I also completed my divemaster training which involved some excellent time management skills on my part.

I worked in this role for just over a year and learned many valuable skills. I loved my colleagues and the atmosphere of working within the NHS. I enjoyed a lot of trust in this role which was split between general laboratory administration and wet lab work. I was responsible for the reception of samples within the lab, labelling, data input and being the face of the laboratory. My day to day laboratory work included DNA extraction (from blood, saliva, paraffin embedded tissue, fresh tissues, RNA extraction, certain assays including HLA typing, making gels as well as lab machine maintenance, cleaning and general housekeeping.

I joined the University Officer Training Corps during my time at university. It taught me many vital skills that I find myself still using today. The teamwork it taught me was second to none, and gave me management skills up to a Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership from the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). It taught me the value of hard work, both physical and mental and to throw myself out of my comfort zone. During my final year, I was raised to the role of Company Under Officer (CUO) as the head student amongst a cohort of around 100. I was chiefly responsible for helping coordinate between the permanent staff and the students, helping organise evenings and events and mentoring the less experienced students. During this time I also managed the small detachment bar which involved accounting, stock taking and staff management. I worked hard to pass the Army Officer Selection Board (AOSB) to attend the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) but unfortunately when I did attend, I severely injured my knee after a few weeks and had to be medically discharged.
