As an intern, my main task was to engineer a python program for visualizing Hi-C matrix data for genomes as a clustermap and outputting the cluster data as text. I also attended weekly lab meetings where full time researchers presented on recent findings. Due to covid-19, I also learned to adapt to working fully from home and being part of a lab remotely . Finally, I developed and presented a formal summer-end report using PowerPoint to fellow lab members and Missouri S&T Chancellor.

As an intern at NTP, I gained experience in different areas of cyber security while adapting to the COVID-19 pandemic at this in-person internship. As a threat hunter, my main job was to protect Fortune 500 clients from attempts at exploiting outbound clear-text credentials, phishing, and Mirai botnet attacks and interceding when needed. I used my knowledge of Python to improve readability of install script code for the company’s security product by deciphering it and adding comments. I also researched and collaborated with others to write an article informing non-technicians of the risks associated with Dark Net markets.

As a member of the game programming team for the Association of Computing Machinery (SIG-Game), I worked on a game that was played by artificial intelligence in a competition at the end of the semester. I worked on a specific function in JavaScript that was implemented into the game using GitHub.

As an intern directly working under the CIO of the Rockwood School District, I gained experience communicating and working in a professional environment, teaching simple drag-and-drop programs to younger students as part of an interactive coding demonstration, and using programs such as Excel and PowerPoint to log and organize information.
