As an young Structural Engineer, I enjoy collaborating with professionals in all disciplines to design buildings that provide value to people in families and communities. I am enthusiastic about working on residential building design, as well as educational, athletics, and arts facilities. As an engineer in training with Odeh Engineers, I strive to take an active role in my engineering education by pursing a wide variety of project experiences. I have been involved in industrial, commercial, single family and multi-family residential projects - both new construction and existing buildings. I aim to continue to gain new design skills and to deepen my prior understanding of structural materials. During my time in college, I had the opportunity to work at LaBella Associates, a company that allowed me to collaborate with Architects and Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Transportation Engineers in an internship environment and gave me the experience as a structural engineer in the buildings engineering department I had been hoping for during my time as a student.In other work experience, I have loved being able to work with others to make their roles more efficient. As an intern with Rochester Gas and Electric, I had the opportunity to meet with employees from different area of the company to help create an electronic inspection form that collected the required and important information by using a simpler system. I believe there are always ways to improve how we complete our daily tasks in a manner that is quick and accurate, and enjoy the opportunity to look for them. I’ve also gained experience working in a team of strong leaders during my time as a Division III Track and Field athlete and as a member of two Greek Life executive boards. These two organizations have pushed me to reevaluate my role as a leader in different situations and have encouraged me to stretch the boundaries of how I view myself.When not working, I enjoy hiking mountains, snowboarding, lifting weights, playing and listening to music, reading, and mentoring young students, both in athletics and academics.I’d love to discuss my goals for the future in more depth, so please feel free to reach out to me at rwillard1823@gmail.com
