Hi there! I'm Rachel. I support communication strategy and design workshops and courses for the McDonough Career Center at Georgetown University.I started my career as a classroom teacher. I relished the chance to work with my students and colleagues and the time spent rolling up my sleeves, diving into a new academic year curriculum, but I hated grading (cue the eyerolls from the real teachers). I followed my nose to The American University's international education program, where I was surprised to fall in love with my graduate assistant role in higher education. I found a singular joy in guiding students and showing them the "hidden curriculum" of navigating such a complex and dynamic stage in their lives. And I guess that explains why I've stuck with it for the last (almost) decade.Now, I'm back in a role that puts me in the sometimes in-person, sometimes virtual classroom, clearing brambles and branches from the pathways that hopefully lead to successful and fulfilled forevers for my students.
