CurrentThe Caribbean Climate-Smart Accelerator is an an entrepreneurial engine established to drive transformative climate action and resiliency in the Caribbean. The Accelerator was featured as the first high–level commitment at President Macron’s One Planet Summit, where Prime Ministers Roosevelt Skerrit of Dominica, Keith Mitchell of Grenada, Allen Chastanet of Saint Lucia and Virgin Group Founder Sir Richard Branson articulated a far–reaching vision for the world’s first Climate-Smart Zone. This vision and the Accelerator were co–created with President Moreno and the IDB, Caribbean Leaders, OECS, CARICOM, the World Bank and other key partners. It was formed recognising that the impacts of climate change will only become more extreme especially in light of the experience of the 2017 Hurricane season, which decimated large parts of the region. Through private and public partnerships, we are working to combat climate change head on by building more resilient countries, cities and industries with strong infrastructures that can withstand the effects of climate-disaster. We are also implementing solutions that allow us to lead by example demonstrating simple measures that can assist in reversing the impact of climate change.
