Nîkânîw means “one who leads the way” in Cree. The Nîkânîw Aboriginal Youth Leadership Program is an opportunity for Aboriginal youth to gain leadership skills that will lead to increased opportunities in the future.Nîkâniw Aboriginal Youth Leadership Program combines the cultural teachings and guidance of Indigenous Elders and Leaders with the instruction of water safety education, first aid, CPR, leadership and life skills to young adults (13 - 22 years old). These program areas complement each other, teaching a respect for Mother Earth, and especially the element of water.

Provides day-to-day supervision of assigned aquatic programs including scheduling of lifeguards and instructors to ensure coverage meets Association guidelines and standards. Develops positive relationships with participants and provides motivational support and guidance. Increases participant awareness of all healthy lifestyle factors. Assists with recruiting, hiring, training, and evaluating of staff. Manages statistics and record keeping as assigned. Maintains aquatic program areas and equipment with a high attention to cleanliness and safety. Assists with the ongoing maintenance and recording of the pool chemistry. Follows all City of Edmonton policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary. Attends and conducts staff meetings and training as required. Provides ongoing in-service training and safety checks for aquatic staff. Conveys advanced information on aquatics. Accurately maintains related records.

I performed orders and make coffee, tea, and other drinks to customer specifications. I also responsible operate cash registers and credit card machines. I worked to resolve customer complaints or questions, as well. When not busy I would also must clean coffee machines, restaurant areas, restrooms, and preparation areas during a normal shift. I made sure to maintain good customer relations and speedy delivery of all beverages as well as complete assigned tasks from management every day.
