I was trained as a food technologist (Wageningen University). After graduation I worked in industry as a process engineer and I was project manager for valorization of co-streams from fermentation processes. Most years of my career so far I have worked as a consultant to support companies within the AgroFood and CleanTech sector in their ambitions for international business and innovation:- Matchmaking: finding and selecting suitable business partners for technological and commercial collaboration;- Organize matchmaking events and company missions;- Exploratory studies to map promising technologies, applications, trends, competitive technologies and applications, markets and potential business partners;- Check project ideas for feasibility;- Write project and business plans;- Advise on appropriate subsidies and other incentive programs.Because of my extensive experience. I am a good sparring partner for entrepreneurs and researchers and I can contribute with my know how when it comes to exploring, developing and implementing projects on product and process improvements, innovations and new markets. This applies also to my technological background which enables me to understand quickly technical challenges within the AgroFood and Cleantech and helps me to make meaningful connections between different disciplines and have discussions about it.

Explore Combined Heat & Power (CHP) technologies that are available or under development that could serve as an alternative to regular CHP technologies. The following aspects were part of the inventory: producers, distributors, technical performance, specifications for biogas, investment, maintenance costs , relevant market and technological developments.I supported an algae producing start-up company: writing business plan, market analysis algae products, grant application for investigating the non-technical issues for the market introduction of the technology and algae products; part of project team for input of the basic engineering of a pilot plant.Explanation of the market analysis: The food and feed specialties are mainly DHA / EPA (omega fatty acids) and astaxanthin (carotenoid): applications, technical specifications, legislation (EU Food Safety and Novel Food regulations) and certification (such as GMP +); indentifying and start discussions with potential customers and toll manufacturers for extraction and formulation of algae products.I consulted a large catering company in the Netherlands whether there are better alternatives to their current frying oil, that are more healthier, cheaper on annual basis and sustainable (regarding palm oil). The focus was on the interpretation of the fatty acid composition, physic-chemical properties of the fatty acids in terms of stability, the latest health information about fats, and potential certification schemes for sustainable palm oil and related claims.
