About Radken Smith
My pursuit in law enforcement spans over 20+ years, focusing on achieving the ability to do extremely well in some of Wayne County's most critical areas. I have successfully completed assignments in jails, courts, mounted police, secondary road patrol, executive protection, as an investigator in the Narcotics Enforcement Division, and fugitive apprehension.Throughout my career, I have diligently earned the respect of my peers, supervisors, and the citizens I have sworn to protect and serve. I continue to prove my loyalty to the badge that I carry that allows me to uphold the laws of the United States, the State of Michigan, and the County of Wayne. In my travels as a Sheriff's Deputy for the County of Wayne, I was offered a position under the Department of Juvenile Youth Services. I accepted the position of Deputy Director of Risk Management and Crisis Response in 2023 under Juvenile Justice expert Melissa Fernandez. In this position, I have acted as a liaison between Wayne County Juvenile Detention and the Wayne County Sheriff's Office to ensure a quick response and prosecution of crimes committed inside the facility. I have worked tirelessly in developing safety and security protocols inside the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility, including creating and re-writing policy to protect the County of Wayne, the children housed there, and the staff who work there daily. I have also played an integral role as the team leader in transitioning into the new Criminal Justice Complex to develop operational plans to move the incarcerated children safely and procure equipment to make the facility safer.I hold an Associate of Science in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Colorado Technical University. I have dedicated my entire life to serving in government and making our communities safer. I look forward to holding positions where my decisions impact our future in Wayne County.
