Above Water Warfare Tactical Specialist/ Boarding Crew
Portsmouth, England, United Kingdom
Upon graduating from my training I was quickly placed onto Type 23 frigates based around the UK providing radar and communication to allied aircraft. I was noticed for having a strong skill set managing the fast paced air environment whilst remaining focused, calm and collective under stressful conditions. This enabled me to fast track my training giving me a promotion before being assigned to my unit within my first year.Upon being assigned to HMS DRAGON a Type 45 air defence destroyer I quickly developed new skills and adopted them with my new team, whilst gaining additional qualifications to aid my unit. I was selected to be a part of the ships boarding team which whilst on a 8 month deployment to the Middle East managed to seize over £145m of narcotics which broke the maritime records for that area . In addition, I had the opportunity to train at the NATO Maritime Interdiction Operational Training Centre (NMIOTC) with the Greek navy seals to understand and learn Nato's standard operating procedures (SOP's) for Maritime interdiction. There is so much more that I could write about in my 5+ years with the Royal Navy and the journey it took me on, including life lessons and being plonked in the middle worldwide political struggles and even a Bond movie but that can save for another conversation.
