It also involves insects, fungi, microscopic creatures, macroscopic creatures (rabbits, squirrels, and deer, for example), genetics, color, composition, weather, unforeseen events, avoidable causes, solutions to both, and much, much more.

Served as secretary.Woodbury County Extension is committed to providing information and assistance Siouxlanders have counted on for generations, from family nutrition to financial planning; from 4-H to economic development; from parenting to gardening. I advise on program needs and implementation, marketing initiatives, human resource issues, fundraising, and partnering opportunities.

Wild Ones is a nonprofit membership-based advocacy organization with over 60 chapters nationwide. After helping found our local chapter, I wanted to put my nonprofit leadership education and experience to greater use so accepted the invitation to apply to serve on the national board. I served as governance committee co-chair. Helping increase the impact of the work Wild Ones does to educate about the many benefits of native plants is very rewarding.

Wild Ones' mission is to promote environmentally sound landscaping practices to preserve biodiversity through the preservation, restoration, and establishment of native plant communities. Wild Ones is a nationwide nonprofit environmental education and advocacy organization; the Loess Hills chapter was founded in 2017 and serves the tri-state area of Nebraska, South Dakota, and Iowa. As a founding member, I developed and managed our communications and outreach, using such tools as Facebook (pages and groups), Zoom (coordinating and hosting meetings and webinars), Mailchimp, and Google (gmail, groups, drive, forms, docs, spreadsheet, and voice) in addition to tabling events, collaborations with other organizations, and traditional media.

The Sioux City Environmental Advisory Board researches eco-friendly and sustainable practices, encourages preservation and restoration of natural resources, and educates residents and community leaders about environmental issues. I served as chair from December 2013 to January 2019.

Coordinate and manage communications with alumni, including through a Facebook page, a Facebook group, email, and a newsletter.

Conduct community outreach to develop support of wind energy projects in northwest Iowa.

Licensed navigators helped people apply for health insurance coverage, explaining eligibility for cost savings and the individual's rights and responsibilities. They also networked with community leaders and organizations to reach individuals who need coverage and educated the public about their rights and responsibilities in regards to health insurance coverage. They helped people find the best solution for their needs, no matter how complicated their situation. This service was offered under a federal grant program, the funding of which was slashed in September 2017, ending the PPH program in Iowa. In February 2017 I was promoted to Lead Navigator (manager) and was charged with ensuring my five colleagues statewide provided the best service possible. We all worked remotely, requiring exceptional organizational and communication skills.

Leadership Siouxland identifies and trains outstanding individuals representing diverse views and experiences to assume leadership roles in economic, cultural, philanthropic, and civic development. The Friends conducts an annual book sale fundraiser: includes managing material donations, securing a site, transportation of materials, volunteer recruitment and scheduling, and marketing.I served as president during the library renovation project, requiring ongoing attention to alternative storage, public relations, and assisting the library to match needs with donor requests.The 2013 fundraiser grossed over $30,000 to help pay for materials and services for library patrons, most notably the children's summer reading program.

The Tri-State Graduate Center was a consortium of Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota colleges and universities offering graduate-level programming to the Siouxland region. The center closed in August 2013.• Built and maintained website and social media accounts.• Implemented resource saving practices while increasing marketing and outreach.• Advised individuals about the educational opportunities most appropriate for their needs.• Assisted potential students with admissions applications and procedures.• Assisted students in finding sources of funding for their education and helping to complete related applications.• Proctored exams, both paper and computer-based, individually and in groups.• Compiled enrollment data from every participating institution.• Scheduled and coordinated face-to-face meetings and classes.• Managed all aspects of office operations.

Western Iowa Tech is Siouxland’s largest community college. In 1998 they opened an office in Le Mars to offer personalized services to students in Plymouth County.• Advised students on their options at WITCC, both credit and non-credit.• Transformed a one-room registration center into a fully functional service center including academic and financial aid advising, purchasing and selling books, proctoring exams, arranging tutoring services, and bill payment services.

• Supervised female inmates and assisted in their transport.• Assisted walk-in traffic to Sheriff's Office.• Assisted jailers with the booking process.• Completed local, state, and federal paperwork.
