1.Ensure timely, proper, sensitive and effective processing of planning applications, including pre-application negotiations, post-determination work and defending the Council’s case at appeal.2. Ensure high standards in the provision of advice and reports to Planning Board, elected members and other stakeholders.3. Represent Development Management Services at Planning Board and public meetings as well as involvement in regional and sub-regional issues.4. Provide professional leadership to team and ensure high standards of customer service, in particular ensuring that complaints are dealt with in a courteous and timely manner.5.To work with site promoters and developers to bring sites forward for development.6. Advise and negotiate with applicants and other stakeholders on a range of development proposals, ensuring planning requirements are adhered to.7. Research and prepare evidence for planning appeals and present the Council’s case either through written representations or informal hearings8. Assist the Enforcement Officers, as appropriate, in the successful resolution of breaches of planning control.Areas of Competence1. Advanced practical knowledge and experience of legislation, policy and practice in respect of development management.2. A clear understanding of the environmental, economic and social context of development management.3. A clear understanding of the role of elected members and Officers in development management.4.
