As a Deputy Clerk at the Nebraska Workers' Compensation Court, I work closely with Court administration and judges to implement procedures and develop Rules of Procedure, streamline processes, docket cases, and train employees. One of my favorite roles is continuously modernizing the Court's adjudicatory functioning. I started with the Court in 2015 as an Assistant Clerk, quickly advancing through multiple positions. From Assistant Clerk, to Judicial Assistant I and II, to Deputy Clerk, my drive to learn resulted in a comprehensive understanding of the judicial process. Outside of my career, I am a passionate advocate for environmental sustainability. Inspired by my partner's pursuit of a bachelor’s degree and driven by a love of nature, I returned to school and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, concentrating my schoolwork on environmental restoration in urban areas and the intersection with societal wellbeing. My academic work includes a central thesis on the value of healthy ecosystems in urban areas, which explores the profound impact of green spaces on societal wellbeing.I am particularly interested in the potential of urban ecological restoration to enhance quality of life in cities. My thesis highlights the importance of restoring urban ecosystems to their native status to foster societal wellbeing. Through case study analyses, I demonstrated how ecosystem restoration in cities improves air quality, reduces stress, and contributes to better health outcomes for urban populations. My future aspirations include volunteering with local entities to increase green spaces in my area and advising on sustainable urban planning strategies. I hope to combine my legal expertise and environmental knowledge to help design urban spaces that not only serve as functional public areas but also promote physical, mental, and community health.I am eager to continue my education with a Master's degree in Environmental Psychology, aiming to deepen my understanding of how outdoor environments influence human behavior and how strategic urban planning can be leveraged to create healthier, more sustainable cities. In particular, I hope to advise cities on how to integrate green spaces that maximize the wellbeing benefits for diverse user groups, including children, seniors, and those in healthcare environments. Through this combination of legal expertise, environmental science, and psychological principles, I am dedicated to shaping a more sustainable and healthier future for urban communities.
