Volunteer organiser for a three people team setting up and running BiCon 2021. BiCon is a three and a bit day weekend-long educational and social gathering for bi people, their friends, partners, and others with a supportive interest in bisexuality. BiCon is part convention and part conference. As part of the organising team we took the project or making a usually in person event virtual for the second year in a row due to Covid, improving on the effectiveness of the set up and accessibility for attendees. This involved scheduling and finding hosts for around 40 workshops on issues around bisexuality and related (and not-so-related!) topics as well as safe spaces. It also involved setting up social and fun with discussions, dancing, games, music, crafting and costume parties. All of these sessions had to be accessibly for people with disabilities and those who are neurodivergent. The project also involved working to improve community involvement in the BiCon decision making process at the Decision Making Plenary (DMP) and influencing community members to get involved in the future of their community event. I worked to influence the community to be involved in an anti racist and disability and carer focused review of the BiCon Guidelines.BiCon 2021 - 2021.bicon.org.ukBiCon 2022 - 2022.bicon.org.uk
