I currently supervise all Social Studies curriculum and instruction for Baltimore City Public Schools, which is an urban school district comprised of 186 schools and 82,000 students. Within the system I do many things. I am the Coordinator of Baltimore History Day which yearly brings 400 students to competition with their History Day projects. I also help support a program we created called Kids in Kayaks, which teaches students history while also teaching them to kayak. I do this in partnership with Baltimore National Heritage Area, Parks and Recreation, Baltimore Zoo, The Flag House and Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine. I am currently also helping support an Every Kid in the Park grant which is sending 6,400 of our students to National Park sites. I maintain partnerships, including, Stanford History Education Group, The DBQ Project, Facing History and Ourselves, Centropa, Kaur Foundation, Maryland Historical Society, Maryland Humanities, the Jewish Museum of Maryland and the Baltimore Historical Society.
