Provided client-directed legal representation to children involved in minor guardianship proceedings in the Family Division of the Eighth Judicial District Court.

Served as the Director of the Office of Appeals within the Department of Employment, Training, and Rehabilitation, the largest state agency in Nevada. The Office of Appeals conducts quasi-judicial evidentiary hearings and issues decisions regarding unemployment insurance benefits. Oversaw the processing of thousands of unemployment insurance appeals. Managed a team of 15, including the Senior Appeals Referee, Appeals Referees, and Administrative Assistants. Involved in all aspects of the creation, revision, development, implementation, and evaluation of the Office’s policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.

Leadership for Educational Equity (LEE) is a nonprofit leadership development organization inspiring and supporting a network of civic leaders to end the injustice of educational inequity. As the Director of Impact, I galvanized the nearly 600 diverse LEE members in Nevada to build an ecosystem, through collective action, elected leadership, and policy development, that accelerated changes to achieve equity for students and families.

Started as a member of the Executive Team managing the Criminal Division. In July 2020, I was asked to take over management of the Alternative Sentencing and Education Division. The two divisions merged to form the Community Support Services Division, which encompassed six treatment courts, Evaluation Center, Domestic Violence Program, Pretrial Services Unit, Marshal Unit, Compliance Unit (probation), Court Specialist team, and education services. Directed over 70 staff, contractors, volunteers, and vendors, and served as the Agency Field Instructor to supervise student-interns from UNLV’s School of Social Work. Took an active role in staff development throughout the Court, including creating a bi-weekly training and mentorship program for new supervisors. Reviewed proposed legislation and drafted position statements. Provided consultation on capital projects and purchases, including a new courthouse. Collaborated with many different organizations and stakeholders on several key initiatives and oversaw multiple federal and state grants. Involved in all aspects of the creation, revision, development, implementation, and evaluation of the Court’s budget, policies, procedures, goals, objectives, and strategic planning.

Managed the Clark County Family Mediation Center, one of the largest court-connected mediation programs in the country. Supervised a team of 16 and oversaw 5 different programs. Collaborated with many different organizations and stakeholders within the court system and Clark County.

Taught undergraduate courses, including Social Welfare and the Law, Introduction to Social Welfare and Justice, Advocacy in Social Welfare, and Social Welfare Policy & Programs, in the Department of Social and Cultural Sciences.

Taught several undergraduate and graduate level courses in the Helen Bader School of Social Work.

As Assistant State Public Defender, Local Attorney Manager, and Regional Attorney Manager, I represented children in dependency and delinquency cases and adults in felony, misdemeanor, revocation, and mental health commitment cases. Supervised staff and managed office operations.
