I have nearly a decade of combined experience working in local government and in education with broad exposure to engineering, environmental justice, equity, community engagement, and policy development. Currently, I work as the Equity Program Consultant in the City Manager’s Office at the City of Tacoma. I lead the coordination of the Tacoma City Council 14 appointed commissioners on the Commission on Immigrant and Refugee Affairs as well as provide strategic advisement to the city’s racial equity effort. My primary functions include developing implementation strategies for the recommendations the Commission offers to advance access, equity, and inclusion for all newcomers and creating plans to further racial equity goals throughout general government. I'm highly focused on elevating the voices of those around me and bringing life to ideas! Previously, I worked at Bates Technical College part time for 4 years while at my role at the City of Tacoma, serving those interested in the engineering technology programs. I mitigated barriers to enrollment and degree attainment using tools such as tableau, ADP, and the CRM to track and monitor student progression. While my professional titles reflect core functions, my roles have developed into other responsibilities. For example as an Engineering Technician, I trained in DEI, Continuous Improvement, Facilitation, and given opportunities in those areas. Subsequently, I serve as an Affinity Group President and held previous roles as an Equity Team Participant, Environmental Justice Leaders Facilitator, Continuous Improvement Co-Lead on an Internship Improvement Project concurrent with engineering work.Another example is that I served Councilmembers as a Policy Analyst while simultaneously working in dual capacity as an Equity Program Consultant in 2023.Outside of work, I'm an avid reader – I read about 20 books a year spanning from personal and professional development, DEI, financial wellness, and more. I sing too and have released two songs with my sisters – you can find me on Apple Music and other places under R3Fresh. I also like meeting new people over a cup of chai tea. Let’s connect! My email is rware92618@gmail.com or ping me on LinkedIn. Competencies: AutoCad Civil 3D, Bluebeam, DocuSign, Microsoft Access, Lean Six Sigma, Project Management, Tableau, CRM, DEIP.S. If you have a book, a podcast, or found an article/training that is helpful to you for life or career, feel free to send me a recommendation!
