With over 20 years of experience as a researcher, I am passionate about conducting and communicating evidence-based research on student mental health and widening participation. As a policy and engagement officer at UMHAN, I plan and deliver an effective programme of policy, research and public affairs work, with a strong emphasis on engagement and communication with members, networks and other external stakeholders. I have led and contributed to several projects on the experiences of estranged students, students with caring responsibilities, and marginalised groups of students, using participatory methods. I have received multiple awards and recognition for my research and publications, and I have taken on various roles as a mentor, reviewer, lecturer, examiner, and board member.
