Researcher with a bachelor's and master's degree in Biomedical Engineering, focused on medical image analysis, biomechanical simulation and surgical technologies such as robotics and augmented reality. At a technical level, most of my activity can be classified in two main areas: automated surgical planning and intraoperative assistance tools.- Automated surgical planning: The software solutions we have developed in this area include optimization algorithms that, based on the analysis of the patient’s medical images, automatically find the best possible pathways to be followed by the surgeon during the intervention. This way, the best possible result is obtained, minimizing the invasivity and ensuring the patient’s safety.- Intraoperative assistance tools: We have worked to bring in cutting-edge technology tools, such as robotic assistants or mixed reality devices, to the surgical environment, aiming to reduce costs and improve the safety, the effectiveness and the efficiency of certain interventions.In many cases, the developed solutions included components from both disciplines. As a result, integral surgical experiences have been developed in which, starting off from a computed automatic preoperative plan, the surgeon works assisted by a robotic arm while, through augmented reality glasses, he is able to visualize holograms on the anatomical structures and medical images of the patient, displayed on real-time in their exact location over his body.
