About Rafaela Penacchio

PhD Candidate at the University of São Paulo in the Department of Applied Physics. After my undergraduate training in X-ray diffraction calculations, I furthered my skills in software development as well as analysis of X-ray data under the advisory of Dr. Sérgio Morelhão. My graduate research is currently centered on developing new methodologies for exploiting the dynamical regime of diffraction as a tool for structural refinement and further applying it for probing bonding charges and phonon scattering in thermoelectric materials. Skills involved in my project include software engineer for structural modeling, experiment planning, and data analysis, as well as materials simulations using molecular dynamics and DFT.I am interested in careers focused on programming, data science, and condensed matter in academia or industry. I enjoy solving challenging computational problems. I am eager to learn new things and appreciate dedicating time to machine learning, software development, and scientific discussions.
