In 1985, together with Santiago Martínez Lage, I started up Martinez Lage & Asociados, a legal boutique specialized in European community law, competition law, intellectual property and telecommunications law. The firm joined Howrey LLP in 2008.I work on all kind of contentious and no-contentious affairs, related to EU competition law, Spanish competition law and EU Law in general. Within EU and Spanish competition law, my main areas of specialties are cartels, abuse of dominance (unilateral practices), both exclusionary and exploitative, distribution agreements and vertical restraints; but I also deal with mergers and State aids cases. I have also handled major cases involving telecoms and energy; media, copyright and entertainment legislation; sports law; and unfair competition law. By sector, my main clients are active in the following markets: moving consumer goods; media and entertainment; copyright and the protection of authors; publishing; food and agricultural products; high-tech and telecoms; learned professions; and energy.I am a regular lecturer in EU and Competition Law and I have written several publications in English and Spanish on these subjects.
