(Sorry, didn't mean to make you hungry)So, while the elimination of the master control department was looming on the horizon, it was still jarring when the layoffs happened sooner rather than later.What was next?With the break came some much-needed reflection and evaluation - and from that - a plan.This would be a time for research, learning and growth, not grieving. (It was also a time for a crash course in LinkedIn)Actions taken include:* Borrowing books, visiting Lynda.com (FREE via the public library) and attending lectures/workshops at branches of both the Brooklyn and New York Public Library systems.* TechConnect classes (I chose ones involving Photoshop or iMovie).* Taking several free media education courses offered by BRIC, which has been - by and large - an invaluable resource. (Of the free courses I took, some dealt with photography, others with digital video and one on archiving) I literally invested in myself and registered for a few paid courses as well: Adobe Audition and Adobe Premiere (a BRIC certification course).Having set the plan in motion (and evolving in the process), it is time to enter the fray. Reinvigorated and armed with new (or polished) skills and knowledge, I am ready for new experiences and challenges.[As time passes, this most likely will also be a LinkedIn post (if possible) - I'd also like to have live links for some of the resources I mentioned]
