About Rafael Salomon Sanchez

When designing a product or system the first approach is to rely on automation to control it. This will work if the task is simply to activate actuators in a specific sequence, for example, actuating a motor when an optic sensor is excited.Control engineering comes into play when working with systems that exhibit complex behavior, which need to be controlled guaranteeing safety and performance. A drone or UAV flying in the sky, a motor achieving desired speeds, positions and torques, industrial ovens guaranteeing desired temperatures and even landing lunar modules are some of the many applications of control engineering.I am a Mechatronics Engineer with a Master of Science in Mechatronics specialized in advanced control engineering looking to spread the word about control and its benefits. Thanks to control engineering I was able to select the proper sensors and components and arrange them for a micro pneumatic system to be properly controlled. A PID controller for this was designed later on. Model based FOC control design for stepper motors has been also part of experience; using the motor´s model I designed controllers that can control the current and torque of a stepper motor in an optimal fashion.I have worked at the IAV Power Train Mechatronics Research Center in the Autonomous System Department designing Optimal Controllers for an Autonomous Drone (MPC) as well as assembling a Tool-chain for rapid hardware implementation. Similarly, I die the setup for the Position Measuring System at the Technische Universität Hamburg for Controller Design of Drones and designed and implemented Optimal Controllers for such drones.Do you want to achieve a new complex or delicate function in a system but don´t know what actuators and sensors to use?.
