About Rafael Umann

Rafael is a serial entrepreneur, computer scientist, and energetic leader with over 20 years of experience in deep-tech.He founded an ISP at the age of 13, which was acquired four years later, and became the lead engineer behind linux embedded systems and device drivers that powered one of the largest point-to-point wireless networks in the world. Later on, he co-founded a London-based online marketplace, similar to Airbnb, leading the company to rapid growth and a successful outcome. Prior to Azion, Rafael was also a key system engineer at one of the largest tech companies in Brazil, Terra Networks, and a contributor to several open-source projects.Rafael's passion for entrepreneurship led him to drop his Computer Science degree before graduation. He now holds a BBA from Pontifícia Universidade Católica (PUC-RS), where he led studies on offshore corporate structures, and an extension in Sales & Marketing from Columbia University. Rafael is an active LP in VC funds and startup incubators.
