Rafael Yoshida is a Brazilian film director who embarked on his directing career 17 years ago with two collaborative feature films: "The Owner" and "The Train Station" at CollabFeature. CollabFeature is a consortium of independent filmmakers from around the world who unite online to create films with unique narratives, employing innovative methods to overcome budget constraints. Both projects garnered multiple awards at film festivals worldwide and were independently screened in over 20 countries.In 2010, he relocated to New York, where he directed over 20 short films. In 2013, he served as co-director and cinematographer for the short film "Distance," which earned nominations at the Denver and Miami International Film Festivals, competing alongside Oscar-nominated shorts.From 2014 to 2016, Rafael directed numerous commercials as a freelance director and contributed to Mova Filmes, a production company known for its success with Monja Cohen and other self-development content.In 2016, seeking larger-scale projects, he joined as casting director for the first Brazilian Netflix Original feature, "The Killer," at Gatacine.In 2017, Rafael joined Movioca content house, where he spent four years directing various television and corporate projects. Notable highlights include "Conta Comigo," a multi-episode show for Globosat GNT featuring Rafa Brites, and "Balaclava," an eight-episode fictional drama/investigative series for Prime Box Brazil.In 2021, he became a partner director and executive at Gatacine, a 20-year-old production company credited with numerous successes in the Brazilian industry. Recently, he produced "Colegas 2" with Globo Filmes, set for release in 2025.
