Wind Energy Research GroupMy research focuses on applying flap control on wind turbine systems to reducing loading and improve power output and consists of:• Optimization of Wind Turbines using Experimental and CFD Techniques• CFD analysis and design of a trailing edge flap system for small wind turbines• Experimental testing in large open wind tunnel with wind speeds over 90 km/h• URANS simulations of multiple angles of attack and correspond flap angles• Conducted Thin film Oil Visualization technique to capture flow effects along chord of blade

My Roles and Responsibilities include:• CFD simulations: turbomachinery, pipelines, complex multiphase flows (e.g. steam flashing, particle-liquid interactions and bubble flows), particle-induced erosion, flow control devices in SAGD (i.e. converging-diverging nozzles/venturis), thermodynamic and rheological fluid models • Design and sizing of process equipment: industrial fans, heat exchangers, separators, heaters, pressure vessels, pumping systems (centrifugal and diaphragm), venting systems and flow straighteners• Project management: client communications, budget and schedule tracking, quality control of testing, engineering report writing and presentations for clients

Laboratory of Turbulent Flows Research GroupMy research consisted of:• Investigated the effect of particle turbulence on erosion rates in pipelines• Experimental assessment of visco-elastic polymer solutions on turbulent kinetic energy in multiphase flows• Conducted pipe erosion experiments at the Saskatchewan Research Council Pipe Flow Centre• Designed and manufactured a rotary Taylor-Couette device to simulate eddy-turbulence
