As an Adjunct Lecturer at AUA I am teaching "Fundamentals of Systems Engineering" class that is a new course at AUA. It is a trans-disciplinary course that teaches about systems design principles and concepts using scientific, technological and management methods to enable successful realization, use and retirement of engineering systems.The course helps to connect the various topics studied in previous courses and learn how to apply them in practical work. Almost all products are either systems or ‘system of systems’, and this course describes how to apply both ‘hard skills’ and ‘soft skills’ to organize the design of such systems. The products of the future are becoming smarter and include electronics, communication units, software and are becoming more complex in their nature. This course helps students understand the big picture, so they become better engineers and managers.
