The aim of the INSERT project is to develop, through collaboration with various partners both Italian and international, an innovative system that brings together technologies SPECT and MRI, which allow the simultaneous measurement of anatomical (MRI) and functional (SPECT) information of patients with glioma and the evaluation of their spatial-temporal correlation. The most challenging part in the development of an integrated system of MRI and SPECT probably lies in the design of a detection module able to operate in very high magnetic fields for example 9T, without suffering degradation of performance. I study the mutual compatibility between the current readout electronics of radiation sensors and magnetic resonance imaging. Finally I make the characterization of radiation detectors, SDD (Silicon Drift Detector), for gamma measurements, to compare the performance of different types of scintillators in terms of gain and of minimum resolution.
