HS4 Design Philosophy & Procedures, of the Hull Structure Committee is embarking on a new project, the focus of which is the development of structural design guidance. The guidance addresses aspects of structural design normally not covered in textbooks and includes a discussion of fundamental structural concepts useful for designers and also specific guidance when designing various structural details, elements and assemblies. This will be supported with illustrations of good and bad structural design practice, case studies of failures and lessons learned, etc.

Master Project This master project is aimed at the development of an empirical prediction model of the V-Pod Contra rotating propeller configuration.The research method consists of three steps:-Construct a simple method based on the characteristics of open water B-series propellers , for which fullsoftware implementation is available at Sarc (see the relevant chpter in the PIAS manual).-Derive the specific - e.g. propeller interaction-effects from the measured tank data.-Construct a method for the V-POD type of Contra rotating propeller design. The method can be materialized in charts equations and/ in software, that will be determined later.
