As Communications Coordinator, I coordinate and manage the tactical conceptualization and execution of multi-channel communications projects for the Fisheries and Aquaculture division, including its programs and essential publications and knowledge products. In this capacity, I provide strategic advice, lead and plan yearly communication for the department, coordinating a pool of divisional communication officers. Among the projects I manage are the development, coordination and execution of global digital outreach campaigns, the promotion of flagship reports, the conceptualization of media outreach activities, the messaging around global technical symposiums and conferences.

In this position at FAO, I was responsible for the conceptualization, development, and implementation of the communication and outreach strategy of the World Food Day 2015 and the FAO‘s Seventieth Anniversary.In these capacities, I coordinated the implementation of the campaigns across the FAO global network of decentralized offices. Products developed for the global campaigns ranged from brochures to cartoons for pupils, websites, video productions and success stories to use as media opportunities at country level. I developed global messages for both campaigns and ensured their adaptation to the different regional and local contexts.

As communications officer for the region, I was responsible for strengthening FAO's outreach, communication functions and media visibility in the Near East and North Africa.In this role, I led the design of the FAO communications strategy for the Near East andNorth Africa region (NENA), in coordination with a wide range of stakeholders, includingrepresentatives of governments, civil society organizations, UN agencies and media. Among others, I established and managed a communications unit within the regional office with clear roles and responsibilities; I built an extensive network of media contacts, with a special focus on the three regional media hubs (Egypt-Lebanon-Dubai), successfully gaining interest and support of major media networks and satellite channels in the region (MBC, AL Arabyia, Sky Nwes, Reuters, AP, WAM, Sharq Al Awsat, among others) and contributing to a substantial increase of FAO presence in media outlets.

In this role I supervised the implementation of a portfolio of programs funded by the Italian government and implemented by the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, with a budget of 5.000.000 EUR. As liaison officer, I provided strategic advice and technical support to management,reporting and planning. I also provided liaison and facilitated coordinationbetween the Council and the Italian Cooperation Office for issues related to gender and children's rights. During this assignment I contributed to the establishment of the first observatory of children's rights in Egypt as well as to the development of a national campaign on children's rights.

In this appointment I was responsible for designing a multicomponent communication strategy for a national campaign on birth registrations, providing overall coordination and supervision of the campaign. The campaign contributed to the integration of the right to registration as a national priority in the agenda of the then Ministry for Family and Population.
