Research & Development Department is one of the departments in SPWLA UP SC which is divided into two divisions namely Competion Division and Education and Training Division. Education and Training Division is a division that focuses on organizing courses and providing education for the general public regarding petrophysics and well logging.

SPWLA Education and Training Division Pertamina University held a webinar with the theme “Becoming the Winner in Scientific Paper Competition”. This webinar is a series of events which consists of providing material and interactive discussions with speakers and Pertamina University student alumni who have competed in Scientific Paper competitions. It is hoped that by holding this webinar, students can apply the knowledge gained to develop their interests and talents in writing and publishing their in the field of writing and publishing scientific papers so that they are brave enough to compete in the competition.

Professionalism Department and Education Division and Training Division of the Research & Development Department of the Society of Petrophysics and Well Log Analysts Pertamina University collaborated to organize a training program with the theme “Maximizing Practical Value of Petrophysical and Well Log Data in the Oil and Gas Industry”. This training is a series of events consisting of webinars on petrophysical and well logging theories and ended with a software training on well logging data processing software. This training was held for 1 month and can be attended by students and the general public who have an interest in the field of petrophysics and well logging from various disciplines. It is hoped that with this training, participants can apply petrophysical knowledge practically and improve their mastery of well logging software so that it can then be utilized in the scientific and professional fields.

This activity is carried out one of them to improve the quality of HC UKM members by inviting experienced and accomplished speakers. Online talk shows are a form of digital innovation that makes it easier for us to learn and discuss online without having to meet, especially during this pandemic. In the midst of this pandemic, talk shows have become one of the latest superstars capable of reviving the hopes of many people. Therefore, it is hoped that the implementation of this work program can increase the interest of students and other young people to carry out their role as agents of change and be able to accelerate the quality of Indonesia's human resources as superior seeds of the nation's successors who are creative, innovative, and beneficial to themselves, their environment, and their nation.

Video Learning Competition is one of the competitions in the COMPLETION UP 2021 event. Participants in this competition are high school students and equivalent. Participants competed in designing and presenting videos that they made with one of the sub-themes presented, namely “Optimizing the Utilization and Equitable Distribution of New and Renewable Energy in the Face of Future Developments in Indonesia” including solar, water, wind, geothermal, mini/micro hydro, uranium, or biomass.
