I am working very hard to implement an acute pain service that enable to widely use all kinds of regional anesthesia and peripheral nerve blocks to minimize the use of perioperative narcotics and enhance the recovery and the hospital stay for all kinds of the surgical services . in addition of serving the main campus in weston , we are starting a new outpatient facility in coral springs and providing our regional skills to facilitate a pain and narcotic free same day surgeries .Starting to work on many new studies with my residents that will enhance their academic experience as well as will change our clinical practice .

I am running an acute pain service , performing ultrasound guided peripheral nerve catheters for upper and lower extremities , performing thoracic epidurals , paravertebral and TAP catheters for thoracic and abdominal surgeries. Sending patients home with peripheral nerve catheters.Teaching my residents the regional anesthesia and acute pain management is one of my priorities as well as involving them in my research activities.We have one of the most successful joint replacement program nationwide , we are sending our knee replacement home same day or on POD1 with adductor canal catheter , shoulder replacement as well with inter scalene catheter most of our hip replacement patient going home same day.We have an excellent ERAS protocol using TAP blocks for colorectal patients that enable the patient that had laparoscopic colorectal surgeries to go home POD1 or 2 with minimal amount of opioid.

Performing pre operative neuraxial and peripheral nerve catheters for joint replacements , general surgeries. Putting the hospital protocols for the inpatient and outpatient continuous catheters for adults and pediatric patients.Performing research activities and supervising the residents.
