• Implemented and successfully deployed the new “Heal” Design System for Hinge Health’s React Native application. Leveraging react-native-web, our team published over 20 well-crafted components, with live, documented examples on web using Storybook.• Developed a visual codebase analysis tool to intuitively assess the state of component usage in a significantly large product codebase. Using React, Node, react-scanner and ripgrep, this tool generates a visual map of components distributed across the codebase, and features code snippets for each instance and precise filtering by component name, props and folder location. Proved to be crucial asset in guiding strategic decisions as we migrated the codebase to use the new design system.• Drove adoption of the design system, migrating thousands of instances of legacy components through the use of sophisticated codemod automation and manual editing, reaching over 90% adoption and greatly improving codebase uniformity.

• Spearheaded the adoption of React Native, empowering HubSpot to leverage frontend expertise to ship new mobile features. Led and grew a dedicated team of four developers as the React Native Foundations team, responsible for maintaining React Native as a development platform, overseeing the creation and maintenance of cross-platform javascript libraries, supporting continuous builds and acceptance testing, and releasing and monitoring apps. • Designed a clean integration architecture for React Native feature modules onto native apps without impacting native development, as well as a native bridge API enabling interoperability between the native and JavaScript layers. Coordinated a working group of frontend and mobile engineers across the US and Ireland for implementation.• Relaunched the mobile Conversations Inbox feature, refactoring and leveraging an extensive web-based JavaScript codebase, enabling concurrent delivery of features across web, iOS and Android. This feature had a 24% month-over-month growth rate after launch, with 60% retention in an app supporting thousands of users.• During the COVID-19 pandemic, organized a weekly support group for people managing work/life changes.

• Enabled three small to midsize startups to kickstart, launch and maintain React Native applications.• At EverTrue, a donor platform for universities, created the Android version of their existing iOS app in React Native, allowing them to offer full product coverage for organizations of mixed Android and iOS users.• At Lola Travel, advised on the strategic benefits of React Native as they pivoted from iOS development. Architected and implemented the Android version with feature parity, eventually joining the company.• At Outcomes4Me, a company empowering cancer patients, revitalized a substandard codebase, advised on mobile engineering teams and organizational rhythm, set up crash and analytics reporting and collaborated on features, enabling them to go to market.

• Led React Native engineering, overseeing major product features and continuous delivery of iOS and Android apps. Relaunched Lola’s native iOS travel concierge app as a travel app for business travelers.• Coached developers on React Native and Redux, introducing modern coding practices with Prettier, ESLint and StoryBook. Collaborated with designers to create a design system, leading to improved fidelity between design and implementation.• Organized monthly roundtable events with engineers at other companies to share expertise and best practices, eventually becoming a leader of the Boston React Native meetup, attracting dozens of developers interested in cross-platform development and increasing awareness of companies using React Native.

Developed new visualizations for the product’s mobile analytics suite in Angular and Rails. Improved the performance of the company’s Custom Dashboards product offering. Collaborated as part of a team building the App Inbox product, enabling app marketers to create mobile messaging campaigns.

Designed proprietary software for a learning experience used in management consulting. Built a multiplayer corporate simulation for 19 users that simulates 3 fiscal years of a fictional corporation. This is a synchronized experience between a desktop application, a presentation module and Android tablets. In each exercise participants are able to collect experimental data and interact with each other in real-time via their tablets. The data generated during the exercise is analyzed by the software for presentation and discussion.

Recruited a team of 4 founders to build a social media platform for MIT, acquiring hundreds of users. Created a web MVP and Android and iOS applications, enabling users to create posts and receive push notifications about what’s happening on campus.

Participated in the MIT-Japan program after completion of two years of Japanese language study. Contributed to a data visualization project using StatsD and Graphite to measure back-end application metrics. Created a release testing suite for Gengo’s web application, using Selenium for browser automation, running on a headless virtual machine.

Designed and implemented applications in Flash for digital signage, enabling interactivity with public screens via SMS and social media. Applications featured on the Kodak, American Eagle and MTV boards in Times Square, enabling thousands of users to post their photos, sometimes with marriage proposals. Collaborated on a web-based scheduling editor for management of thousands of digital signage screens, used in hundreds of locations across the US and Mexico.

Developed customizable, interactive maps in Flash for cities and major conventions, enabling viewing and editing of important places for visitors. Interactive maps were used by some of the largest conventions in the world like Conexpo/Con-agg, the Democratic and Republican National Conventions, and the Super Bowl.
