I examined the role of atmospheric teleconnections in the global climate by analyzing the output of global climate models. My responsibilities included:► Using Unix shell scripting to process data output from CMIP5 global circulation climate models► Creating figures using the NCAR command language► Analyzing data to determine and quantify the relationships between climatic parameters and phenomena ► Compiling findings into a research report to contribute to a publicationFor one project, I evaluated the different responses a number of climate models have to climate change and the influence these differences have on tropical precipitation and the northern hemisphere winter through the end of the century. More fully understanding these relationships can allow us to better determine the how the global climate operates and how it is represented in global circulation models. This position has allowed me to use my research and analytical skills to examine complex problems and has allowed me to developed a new range of technical and data processing skills.
