In 2009, I was hired full time into the Client Services group, the 6 member team responsible for the operations of the technology transfer office. This group is responsible for data intake, data quality control, contract management, revenue distribution, account receivable, and general communication with the community and licensees. This role grew to include leading a team to complete programming solutions for database searches, report generation, and real-time licensing activity. I was also recruited by the Executive Director to lead a series of initiatives aimed to improve operational efficiency office-wide. These included envisioning and developing a web-based management dashboard; revamped the process by which patent decisions were made; organized an annual licensee compliance effort; developed project management software for the licensing staff; and various other initiatives.

As a Senior Fellow at Columbia TechVentures, I was responsible for assessing the viability, marketability, and commercialization of technology generated at Columbia University. A typical project involves the scientific viability of a technology, the possible market it belongs to, potential licensee clients, and identifying possible competition from other technologies. I was also involved in writing Seed Fund proposals as well as Executive Business Statements involving several different technologies. I was also responsible for managing 15 employees that perform these functions, as well as the hiring, termination, and training of these employees. Finally, I was involved in the development and evolution of the CTV Fellows program as a whole.

In the lab of Dr. Eric Greene in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics, I studied proteins involved in repairing DNA at the single-molecule level in real time. This endeavor prepared me to investigate questions using analytical thinking and knowledge from diverse fields of study. I primarily used novel techniques and software programs developed in the lab to discover new functionalities of proteins and uncover unique questions. These independent and group research projects led to five peer-reviewed scientific publications. Thesis: Investigating the Role of Rad51 in Homologous Recombination at the Single Molecule Level

I was involved in the development of the 300mm manufacturing process for Intel's microprocessors. I specifically worked on the development, advancement, and transfer of the Thin Films division of manufacturing line. Developed training material and SOPs used by microprocessor fabrication plants worldwide. Mentored, advised, and directed three shifts of fab technicians for three manufacturing process steps.
