I work with scientists from around the U.S. and the world, helping them apply high-performance computing and storage technologies to scientific discovery. NERSC, part of Berkeley Lab, is the production supercomputing and storage center for the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science. CDG Laboratories develops novel and advantageous methods for growing parasitic bacteria in vitro, without the presence of host tissue. Pasteuria endospores, such as those that infect the rootknot nematode Meloidogyne arenaria or other host nematodes, are grown in vitro under acidic conditions. This process is highly advantageous because Pasteuria can be grown in the absence of nematode tissue. CDG Laboratories was founded by Dr. John Gerber, whose work was further developed by Pasturia Biosciences, which was acquired by Syngenta in 2012.

Research on computational models of galaxies, including both stellar and gas dynamics. Studied building and testing equilibrium models of galaxies. Specialized in studying ring galaxies, caused by a collision of galaxies, as prototypical models of star formation triggered by collisions.
