In my present capacity, I have been spearheading centralized procurement of primary packaging materials, including glass bottles, PET bottles, returnable glass bottles, and aseptic packaging material. I manage a diverse supply base comprising of vendors nationwide and ensuring timely procurement of packaging materials to support operations across various factories. I craft and execute long-term category strategies, develop annual procurement plans and negotiate contract agreements with key vendors to maintain supply consistency and quality, and developing alternate vendor options. During this period, I have driven effective initiatives that led to an improvement in returnable glass bottles across India with implementation of winning strategies and new vendor development efforts, contributing to a major cost savings. In addition to this, I have been able to achieve savings and minimized carbon emission through Project Light Weight and have been the first to introduce should cost models for Glass bottles in Diageo India to understand Glass cost drivers, how commodities and various factors influence cost, which enabled a winning position in negotiation while negotiating deals with glass suppliers.In the field of Contract Negotiation and Supplier Relationship Management, I successfully negotiated long-term contracts with strategic suppliers and rolled out the price adjustment formulae technique to stabilize glass prices irrespective of supply-demand issues; introduced for the first time ever in Industry. Apart from this, I successfully indexed PET bottles to substrate & unlock value through conversion price reduction through E-auction, enabling Hedging of PET resin leading to stable prices.

I served as centralized category buyer for packaging materials, managed a large budget annually, and conducted annual procurement planning, including E-Auctions, and negotiated contract agreements with key vendors. During this period, I ensured regular and timely procurement of packaging materials and maintaining on-time supply and services to over 50 factories across the country by efficiently managing a large vendor base all over India. With disruptive technologies, I worked along with the technical team to develop METPET-free packaging with a similar appearance and a goal of 100% recyclability and generated opportunities for business. I was able to achieve a major cost-reduction on packaging materials in over three years with my cost-reduction initiatives like E-auctions, alternate vendor selection, and competitive bidding methods. In addition to this, with the implementation of a robust procurement strategy, I could achieve significant reduction in overall procurement costs and significant improvement in quality. As the Core team member, I was responsible for smooth integration of Diageo India operations with United Spirits Ltd of procurement of all direct materials & consolidated supplier base.

I developed new products, managed critical projects using Lean Six Sigma, and used technological solutions for production capacity enhancement. I conducted benchmarking studies and implemented best practices in Mumbai and Nagpur plants. During this period, I spearheaded and completed multiple six sigma Black Belt projects and successfully achieved a reduction in vitrified firing cost at Mumbai & Nagpur Plants and improved sulphur impregnation for specialty grinding wheels by using DFSS method, improving share of business and replacing import of grinding wheels by customers.By steering Lean Six Sigma project, I achieved a reduction in manufacturing lead time in Kilns production and achieved improvement in Kilns throughput. I developed new products such as Rice polishing ALO based grinding wheels, reducing the raw material cost significantly & Saint-Gobain became Market leader in this segment.

I worked as Shift engineer for Batch & Furnace operations and served as Quality box side leader for Batch & melting section; Implemented ISO9001 & SPC for Critical parameters. I was Six sigma ‘core team member’ in validating the project savings, tracking various projects and documentation. During this period, I localized raw materials and developed vendor capabilities, enabling significant savings and reduction in inventory levels. I successfully completed two Green Belt Six Sigma project on Melting cost reduction and waste reduction in fibre forming by improving consistency of Glass melting operations.

 Maintaining 150 tons/day furnace & working end shift operations. Glass defects - Identifying stones & other defects, finding root causes to eliminate the same. Maintaining Lahr operations to ensure right quality of container glasses.  Responsible for manpower planning and management of Batch & furnace activities. Cullet management & assessing the cullet quality.  Hot repairs for Furnace, Forehearths as and when require to improve furnace life.
