Managed a team of four (4) full-time staff and more than thirty (30) contractors (including individuals & firms) for two project components namely (i) demand-driven crop insurance; (ii) integrated risk management initiatives through value chain development of mango, grape and pomegranate growers in four states of India2. Conceptualised the design and guided the implementation of two pilot projects in Karnataka on demand-driven, individual farm-level crop insurance products for grape and mango growers. Assisted GoK and AICI in pilot-testing and scale-up of hybrid crop insurance products based on innovative blending of weather index and indemnity insurance. ICT platform used for implementation for pilots selected by NITI Aayog and Ministry of Agriculture for management of the Localized Peril Coverage feature of PMFBY - the flagship insurance programme of GoI3. Co-developed the design and steered the operationalisation of an institutional model ‘Farmer-oriented Multi-stakeholder Agro-enterprises’ (FAMA). FAMAs bring FPOs and other value chain players under a common enterprise that can work across the entire value chain for ensuring equitable and fair value to farmers. Piloted projects to test benefits of FAMAs such as reduced intermediation, better access to government assistance and ability to undertake superior pre-harvest and post-harvest value chain operations such as agri-input aggregation, eco-friendly farming, certification, primary value addition, collective logistics, packing, branding and marketing of produce.4. Guided Pilot Mango Marketing Initiative (PMMI) in Gujarat for three years (2014-2016) under which carbide-free and residue-free mangoes were sourced from smallholders and tribal growers in Gujarat and marketed by FPOs and DISHA, the first FAMA of Gujarat. The total business value of mangoes marketed under the initiative was about INR 500 thousand (~14 MT) in 2014, INR 7 million (~170 MT) in 2015 and INR 16 million (~310 MT) in 2016
