Primary Responsibilities:•Advise students on compliance with and fulfillment of the mandatory university-wide second language requirement•Keep records of all SMU students and their compliance regarding fulfillment of the second language requirement•Compile language placement and enrollment data into reports for university administrators•Communicate with students, advisors and Office of Student Records as needed•Track and communicate placement exam results with stakeholders•Advise students minoring in Spanish•Teach one to two classes per semesterOther Responsibilities:•Schedule ACTFL OPI exams every Fall and Spring semester•Maintain Spanish Area website•Create SMU WLL Facebook to keep students/faculty informed of upcoming departmental events and cultural events in Dallas•Administrative responsibilities: process faculty extra compensation, grant special enrollment permissionsCommittees: •Spanish Area Taskforce Committee•WLL Events Committee

•Teach both Spanish Fundamentals and Applications courses- 1401, 1402, 2401•Serve as co-coordinator of Spanish Club•Serve as an ACTFL Oral Proficiency Exam Proctor•Create a Blackboard tutorial to create a course gradebook from scratch

• Teach HUM110 (Spanish I) and HUM111 (Spanish II) online using the Moodle & D2L systems• Evaluate current Spanish textbooks and assign a new textbook for Spanish• Redesign curriculum (2015) for both Spanish courses to include listening, reading, speaking and writing tasks

• Teach a 4/4 courseload of introductory Spanish classes, both hybrid and online• Serve as faculty advisor for Spanish Club• Organize marketing and public relations for the 2013 Humanities Festival• Serve as lead designer/instructor for online classes (Spring 2013)• Redesign SPAN1020 using the D2L system• Supervise 2 adjunct instructors• Digitize the foreign language academic audit survey and compile survey results into a report• Create and update Spanish Club Facebook to foster student involvement

•Serve as the graduate assistant for the 2011 summer study abroad in Costa Rica. •Design a semester-long “learning exchange” project working with the Hispanic community in Hattiesburg. •Prepare and deliver lectures to undergraduate or graduate students on topics such as how to speak and write Spanish and the cultural aspects of areas where Spanish is used.

Serve as the undergraduate assistant for the 2008 summer study abroad in Mexico. Volunteer as an undergraduate assistant in Spanish 102, 130 and 201 classes. Work in the Foreign Language Laboratory tutoring students in all levels of Spanish.
