With over 10 years of work experience in the legal and governmental sectors, I am a recordation tax specialist at the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) and a legal examiner at the DC Government. I have expertise in recordation and transfer tax laws and procedures, as well as foreclosure and real estate litigation. I work with a team of professionals to ensure the accuracy and compliance of tax documents, deeds, and contracts, and to provide excellent customer service to the public. I also support the legal department in conducting research, drafting pleadings, and preparing for hearings and trials. I am fluent in Tigrinya, a language spoken in Eritrea and Ethiopia, which enables me to communicate with diverse clients and stakeholders. I am passionate about contributing to the public interest and advancing justice and equity in my community.
